UTOPIZE co-design workshops

Building the local UTOPIA Labs

In February and March 2026, UTOPIZE is running a three-part co-design workshop series in each demonstrator site to shape the local UTOPIA Labs, a place where communities, municipalities, and universities work together to improve public spaces.

Where and when

  • Karlskoga and Örebro26 February (Torget 16) and 27 February (Örebro University)
  • Ponte Lambro5 and 6 March (Comune di Milano – via Sile, 8, sala riunioni 036/557), 6 and 7 March (Politecnico di Milano – DABC – via Ponzio, 31)
  • Penacova27 and 28 March (Casa das Artes)

What happens in the three workshops

Each site follows the same simple sequence:

  1. Workshop 1: Purpose and priorities
To identify what the Lab should do locally, who it should serve, and which use cases matter most.
  2. Workshop 2: Space, tools and inclusion
To translate priorities into a practical setup for the space and tools, focusing on how they will be used in an inclusive way.
  3. Workshop 3: How the Lab will run
To agree on how the Lab will be managed over time: roles, responsibilities, access, and feedback loops, so community input keeps shaping the Lab.

Who can join

No technical knowledge needed. What matters is the experience of the place and interest in local public spaces. UTOPIZE especially welcomes people and groups who are often underrepresented in planning and sustainability processes.
